In 1999, more than 40,000 individuals organized in protest against the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministerial Conference in Seattle, Washington. In what came to be known as the Battle of Seattle, this anti-globalization effort was one of the first to gain publicity and momentum via the resources of the Internet. I agree, postmodernism is entirely useless. At least Radical Feminism has a passionatre logic to it and while I may not abide or agree with all aspects of it, its a philosophy and politics that makes total sense to me for my liberation and thst of all womonkind!!!And the preservation and protection of Mother Earth.

I have always had definite opinions, I respect people who do who can back them.up with facts and logic. I dont trust people who don’t. All too wishy washy, and easily persuaded and manipulated.

Countries Hailing The Rainbow Flag High And Proud

And our marriage becane legal Nationwide!!

Of the 196 countries that exist in the world right now, only 23 of them fully recognise homosexuality and practices same-sex marriage and adoption rights, and around 20 have transgender or transsexual rights in their legislation.

If that number sounds satisfactory to you, here is another piece of information. In around 72 countries in the world, homosexuality is still illegal, a dozen where it can lead to imprisonment and about eight nations where it is punished with death penalty.

All the other countries on that list are either trying their best to keep the LGBT community suppressed and discriminated, or are being silent and doing nothing to make the situation any better.

The Story of the Rainbow Flag

I like the Gilbert Baker Flag and remember when it was originally flown in SF. It still.is every Pride.

The Rainbow Pride Flag has been a representative of the LGBTQ community for years now. Every pride parade or pride festival is dotted with numerous rainbow flags, and the same shades and pattern is used on banners, placards, posters and sometimes even dresses.

LGBT events are bright affairs and the rainbow flag perfectly exhibits the colorfulness and vivid diversity of the community and its people. But many people have no idea about the flag’s origin or history.

The flag was originally designed and created by an ex-army man from Kansas – a Gilbert Baker, who taught himself to sew as an option of earning bread after his honorable discharge from the US Army. Baker was challenged by Harvey Milk, an influential gay political leader and LGBT rights activist to come up with a symbol of pride and diversity for the gay community.

The LGBT Symbols And Their Significance

Far more Lesbians have Labryis, NOT Black triangle tattoos since Labryises denote our power as Amazon Warriors and Liberation. The Black triangle depicts our oppression. BOTH are depicted on the purple Lesbian flag!!

The LGBT community as a whole has derived and adopted various signs, symbols and colour codes for flags from different sources. The sources can be historical, cultural, academic or a social practice from the past.

These symbols were primarily used for self-identification as well as a display of unity, allegiance and support among the group. But these chosen symbols or colours were more than mere signs. Just like a country’s flag or national anthem gives its citizens a sense of integration, they gave the LGBT community a sense of belongingness.

Ann spoke with WLRN via skype about the recent launch of Feminists in Struggle (FIST)’s campaign to amend the US Federal Equality Act. In the interview, you will hear Ann talk about the difference between sex and gender and how the concept of “gender identity” effectively erases girls’ and women’s sex-based rights and protections.

Ms. Menasche has 40 years of litigation experience in civil rights and public interest law, having worked since 2002 in the field of disability rights. She is a long-time activist in the peace, disability rights, and gay rights movements.

Ann came of age during the social movements of the 1960’s and 70’s. She attended Vassar College in New York and became a leader in the growing anti-Vietnam war, student, and feminist movements.

Political lesbianism is lesbian erasure

I so agree with this Lesbian Sister!! When I first came out ” political Lesbianism” was all the rage. I dated a few of these women who ALL went back to men, nor were they at all comfortable with ACTUAL Lesbian sexuality. Then as distateful as it was, I went back to the fay bsr to date Dykes, most who were drunks and nonpolitical, but they were REAL Lesbians, all too many who drank from the pain of all you described above. And especially hatred against us Butches, which all too msny ” political” Lesbians and Feminists think is ” genda” and a throw back and that we are ” just like males”. Well we have NONE of the male privilege and males can turn.on us in a minute, deny us jobs and harass us for not being ” properly feminine” or accuse us of ” wanting to be a man”, and shame us. Or worse. Its the most obvious and Butch Lesbians often targeted fir ” corrective rape”, murder and harassment. While straight women often fear us. No wonder so many young ones just wanna transition so they can ” fit in” and be left alone. No straight or bi so called ” political lesbian” can EVER get this, nor so called transbian either.
